At my job, I recently discovered that the US earn nearly twice as much at my grade $100k approx. Compare that to the UK where I am paid £40k.
To add to this, a colleague of mine said that we are paid exactly the same salary that at was paid at our grade, 10 years ago !! Talk about stagflation.
In the US the tax rate is also significantly lower, think 12% (+6% social security) versus 20% in the UK (+12%NIC meaning a total tax rate of 32%)
Why are UK salaries so low compared to US?
Is the quality of life much better in the US? Ie nicer cars, bigger houses etc?
