Birmingham has a rising number of children and teenagers accessing mental health services.
The latest figures revealed by the NHS, uncover that a total of 65,790 young people used mental health services in the city in 2018/19.
One in every five people accessing these services last year was a child or teenager (19%), totalling 12,240 service users being under the age of 18.
The number was up from 9,615 young people accessing mental health services in 2017/18, and 8,250 in 2016/17 – the first year that these figures were recorded.
The figures take into account people accessing secondary mental health services, learning disabilities and autism services.
At the same time, separate figures show that a record number of children across the West Midlands are being hospitalised for self harm.
