This is the moment police used a stinger to stop a car near Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton.
The VW Passat, which was believed to have been involved in catalytic converter thefts, was brought to a stop on Stafford Road on Tuesday evening (February 16).
Footage of the incident – which can be viewed above – was posted on Twitter by West Midlands Police’s traffic unit.
Officers can be seen waiting at a pedestrian crossing for the vehicle to pass – and as it does, the stinger is deployed.
The device is then pulled clear of the busy dual carriageway as a police car follows close behind.
Police say the car was stopped “moments later” and the driver was arrested.
South Staffs Police also shared the video on social media, praising the officers for safely stopping the vehicle.
An accompanying post said: “Great work by our colleagues at @ Trafficwmp as the male arrested is currently being dealt with by @ SouthStaffsNPT officers for catalytic converter thefts in South Staffs.”
