Police search for shotgun stolen from farm

Police are searching for a shotgun stolen from a farmer.

The single-barrelled gun was swiped from the rear footwell of a pick-up truck at a farm on the Staffordshire -Shropshire border.

It was taken some time between lunch time on Thursday, March 4, and 11.20am on Friday, March 5.

There was no ammunition in the vehicle and the licensed shotgun was not loaded.

Staffordshire Police is now reminding people to take care of their registered firearms.

Det Con Martin Smith, from the force’s southern CID team, said: “We urge everyone to always take care of any licenced firearms they own.

“You should always keep what can be dangerous weapons locked somewhere secure and where you know they are safe.

“Incidents like this will always cause concern but we are searching for the shotgun that was taken and will do everything we can to keep our communities safe.”
