Frenzied knifeman hid from police under kid’s bunk bed after savage attack on friend


A thug who launched a savage drink-fuelled knife attack on his friend was arrested by cops who discovered him hiding under a child’s bunk bed.

Peter Carrigan had been out drinking when he decided to pay an unannounced visit to his ex-partner in the early hours.

He shocked his former girlfriend who awoke to find Carrigan climbing in through her bathroom window.

But when he found his friend inside the address too, the thug grabbed two knives from the kitchen and launched his frenzied attack.

The 31-year-old punched and stabbed the man several times during the brutal ordeal.

Carrigan forced his beaten and bloodied friend downstairs, continuing to punch him while his terrified ex-girlfriend attempted to flee. However Carrigan grabbed her, put his hands round her throat and squeezed so hard she was unable to breathe and almost passed out, before slapping her round the head.

The wounded man was able to escape, seeking shelter behind a hedge outside while he called for emergency services at around 3am.

Officers arrested Carrigan later that day after finding him hiding under a children’s bunk bed in the house in blood-stained clothes.

During interview, Carrigan claimed he could not get over the ‘on and off’ relationship.

Carrigan, of Holyhead Road, Coventry, pleaded guilty to wounding and actual bodily harm following the attack in Coventry in October last year.

He was jailed for 12 years at Warwick Crown Court on Friday (5 February), with an additional three years on licence following his release.

He will serve at least eight years before the parole board consider releasing him.

Det Sgt Tom Parker from force CID, said: “Carrigan now has a lengthy prison sentence to consider his vile actions. I commend the victims for their bravery, and I am proud that our team worked tirelessly to ensure Carrigan faced justice for his wicked crimes.”
